Patrick Stewart's Jean-Luc Picard will return for Star Trek: Picard season 3, which is poised to be the swansong for his spinoff series as well as for the greater story of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Star Trek: Picard season 2 was an epic time-travel adventure that brought back TNG's Q (John de Lancie) and Guinan (Whoopi Goldberg) as well as the Borg Queen (Annie Wersching). Picard and his motley crew had to journey back to 2024 Los Angeles to set the timeline right after Q's meddling created a dark future ruled by the authoritarian Confederation of Earth. But Star Trek: Picard season 2's true goal was to delve into the unanswered questions about Jean-Luc himself and reveal why the Starfleet legend chose to remain alone without a romantic partner his entire life. By the end of Star Trek: Picard season 2, buried memories about Jean-Luc's mother, Yvette (Madeline Wise), were revealed and reconciled, freeing him up to pursue the romance and happiness he'd denied himself for decades.
