Star Trek: Picard star Patrick Stewart says that season 3's The Next Generation cast reunion will be deeper than just a cameo. Picard, which follows Stewart's character Captain Jean-Luc Picard through his adventures at an older age, premiered on Paramount+ (previously CBS All Access) in 2020. Although the series features its own cast of original characters, including Alison Pill as Dr. Agnes Jurati, Isa Briones as androids Dahj and Soji Asha, and Harry Treadaway as Romulan Narek, Picard has also featured the return of many characters from Star Trek: The Next Generation, which is the 1987 series where Stewart originated the character of Picard.
Picard season 2, which just aired its finale today, has doubled down on the cameos. It opened on an appearance from Whoopi Goldberg as her bartender character Guinan and closed with a (spoiler ahead!) surprise cameo from Wil Wheaton as Wesley Crusher. In between, Picard reunited with Jeri Ryan as the Borg Seven of Nine and John de Lancie as the extra-dimensional being Q. On top of that, it been announced that a huge crop of TNG crew members will be reuniting with Picard in season 3, including Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis, Brent Spiner, Michael Dorn, LeVar Burton, and Gates McFadden, several of whom will be making their Picard debuts.
