Patrick Stewart shares a photo from the premiere of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and makes the perfect joke about his role as Professor X. Stewart first made his debut as Professor Charles Xavier in 2000's X-Men, which helped to kick off the contemporary era of comic book movies. Seven films later, his portrayal has become synonymous with the character. Then, when Hugh Jackman took his final bow as Wolverine in 2017’s Logan, it appeared Stewart's time as Charles had run its course.
Disney acquired Fox and its properties in 2019, bringing Deadpool, the Fantastic Four, and X-Men under the control of Marvel Studios. The assumption was that many of these characters would be rebooted, leaving only the most popular (and still active) ones to be introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the wake of multiversal stories like WandaVision, Loki, What If..?, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, Sam Raimi’s Multiverse of Madness looks to capitalize on Phase 4’s ever-evolving multiverse concept and feature at least one major Marvel cameo — something teased in the first Doctor Strange 2 official trailer via the voice of one Sir Stewart.

On Tuesday, Stewart took to Twitter and shared a photo of himself and his wife at the red carpet premiere of Multiverse of Madness. Referencing the hype surrounding his cameo, the 81-year-old actor made what is perhaps the perfect joke. Stewart cheekily captioned his post with a reference to his «cameo appearance.» Check it out below:
