Phasmophobia has just received a new update that made several changes to the game and added a special event just in time for Easter. The popular ghost hunting title has held special events in the past for April Fools' Day, Halloween, and Christmas.
British developer Kinetic Games' Phasmophobia has gone through a lot of changes ever since it entered early access in late 2020. The Unity engine-based horror title has steadily improved its visuals, introduced several new ghost types for players to hunt, and even completely overhauled its equipment system, among other things. Kinetic Games continues to release regular updates for Phasmophobia, with the most recent one adding a new special event to the critically acclaimed co-op experience.
Phasmophobia's latest Update v0.9.6.0, also known as the Easter 2024 update, added a special two-week event to mark the holiday period. It also delivered a long list of bug fixes and other changes, including a facelift for the game's ID cards system. However, the 0.9.6.0 build of Phasmophobia, which is considered to be one of the best horror games on Steam, still has one known issue. According to the changelog, this manifests in a lobby effect not showing up even after the event has been completed.
A player's ID card displays their stats and in-game progress, while achievements can be tracked through Phasmophobia's collectibles and trophies. Like past Phasmophobia campaigns, the Easter 2024 event will reward players who have completed a series of objectives with a special ID card badge and trophy.
The game's previous v0.9.5.0 update overhauled the in-game equipment shop, while the patch before that introduced a new lighting system for Phasmophobia that featured technologies like Eye Adaptation and Screen Space Global Illumination, or SSGI.
