During an exclusive press preview, Kinetic Games announced that is arriving on consoles right in time for Halloween. The indie hit ghost-hunting horror game started as a Covid project and has sold over 20 million copies and won multiple awards since its release in 2020. The game is a solo or cooperative experience, where players are tasked with uncovering the ghosts haunting different locations, through the use of paranormal investigation tools.
will launch on PS5, PS VR2, and Xbox Series X/S on October 29 at $19.99. (A Switch release is not in the works at this time.) At a press preview event, Kinetic Games spoke about what fans could expect when the game officially arrives on consoles. Besides giving fans a new way to play and reaching the console audience, the console version adds several exciting updates and is working on even more content and features.
Fans will be happy to know that when launches on consoles, it will include crossplay across platforms, including Steamand will even allow players to transfer their progress from the PC version. Multiplayer will also be implemented from day one, allowing up to four players to work together to uncover ghosts and hauntings across 13 locations.
To find the ghost's room in Phasmophobia, players will need to select the right starter kit equipment and split up once inside to cover more ground.
The console edition brings a new feature to the game in the form of Community Goals. These goals challenge the whole community to work together to unlock certain features and rewards, similar to the community system in The first goal requires the community to take photos of blood moon totems and unlock rewards, including permanently unlocking a «blood moon» that powers up ghosts. Players can check their progress on this and other events on the new event board in their trucks.
The bad news for fans is that the console launch will not include voice recognition. Ghosts will still be able to hear players when they speak or make noise,
