Warning: SPOILERS lie ahead for Peacemaker episodes 1-4
The Peacemaker episode 5 trailer arrives showing John Cena's titular character and the rest of his team investigating a butterfly nest. The comic book title marks the first TV installment of the DC Extended Universe and serves as a spin-off of James Gunn's The Suicide Squad, with the filmmaker returning as creator, writer and primary director of the show. Gunn has teased that Peacemaker will only be the first spin-off from his acclaimed DCEU film and that his next planned project with the studio will be another small-screen effort.
Peacemaker picks up five months after the events of The Suicide Squad as Cena's titular character has healed up from being shot in the neck by Bloodsport for turning on his team to prevent details of Project Starfish being leaked to the public. Peacemaker is subsequently re-recruited by Amanda Waller to be part of Project Butterfly, a black ops squad with familiar faces John Economos and Emilia Harcourt tasked with hunting down the alien parasitic butterfly-like creatures inhabiting human bodies around the world. Peacemaker has received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike for its humor and character development for its roster of personalities and the show is only just getting started.
