After a standout role inThe Suicide Squad, the Peacemaker HBO series has once again proven how great the character can be. John Cena plays the role perfectly, as despite Peacemaker’s awful upbringing and questionable morality, he is still a likable person with a soft side. Seeing him develop throughout the show is a treat, and the character is proof that even the most misguided people can change.
Like many of the other characters James Gunn has brought to life, Peacemaker was a lesser-known figure from DC comics that may have never made a live action debut without the director’s work. As shown by the rave reviews from fans and critics alike, there is plenty to love about the series, with Gunn’s top-notch character work and comedy skills on full display. The show also has some strong action as well, ensuring that it has all the pieces needed for a standout video game adaptation. If the same amount of love and care that was put into the show was seen with a game, Peacemaker could continue his rise from obscurity to become a household name.
DC Villains that Still Need the Video Game Treatment
Perhaps the most obvious element of Peacemaker that would work as a video game feature is the character’s helmets. As shown in the series, Peacemaker has access to various helmets that serve different purposes. While they are all as shiny and silly as the original, their special features are unique. For example, an X-Ray helmet is used by Peacemaker to identify and kill the Butterfly-controlled humans in the series. This could easily be a feature in a game, with one example being a night vision helmet that is worn for a stealth mission.
Another great aspect of Peacemaker is Eagly, the character’s appropriately named bald eagle sidekick.
