Blizzard Entertainment’s 13th season for Overwatch 2 kicks off on October 15th with Spellbinder. As expected, it’s the hero shooter’s Halloween event, though it doesn’t feature a new PvE addition to Junkenstein’s Revenge. Instead, players will venture to Junkenstein’s Laboratory, a new PvP mode.
Essentially Team Deathmatch, the mode offers Mutations which alter a character’s abilities. For instance, Reinhardt’s Charge will explode after pinning an opponent into a wall. Meanwhile, Reaper gets his old Soul Orb passive back. The mode is available until November 4th, but thankfully, PvE modes like Junkenstein’s Revenge and Wrath of the Bridge will be available throughout the season.
The latest Mythic skin is for Widowmaker, starting from an apprentice in the potions and evolving into a dark arts aficionado. Those with fully upgraded Mythic Hero Skins can also obtain new Gilded Aspects, which lend a black and gold palette (with plans to accommodate Mythic Weapons later).
Season 13: Spellbinder will also coincide with a new balance patch, so stay tuned for more details when it goes live tomorrow. There’s also a collaboration with My Hero Academia to look forward to on October 17th. Head here for more details.
