One Piece has had Funko Pops for a while, but the arrival of its live-action adaptation on Netflix seems to have jump-started a run of the anime getting new figures at a much faster rate. The Wanted Poster Luffy figure selling out almost immediately after it went on sale at this year's New York Comic-Con will do that. Next up is a character who has been introduced in the Netflix version of the show, but not by the name of his newest Funko Pop!, Sniper King.
FunkoFinderz shared images of the new Sniper King Funko Pop!, also confirming it will be a Chase Collectibles exclusive. The figure will be available after 12 p.m. EST today (November 8, 2023). The figure appears to be fully posable - well, you can move its arms - as the two images show Sniper King with his arms folded, and then with them unfolded, his trusty slingshot in hand.
Sniper King, an alter ego of one of the very first characters to join the Straw Hat Pirates, finally has his own Funko Pop! Compete with the character's iconic mask, cape, and even a little slingshot.
If you're new to One Piece and jumped on the bandwagon thanks to the adaptation (like me), then you might now be trying to place who used a slingshot in season one as no one was ever referred to as Sniper King. That's because the slingshot user in the Netflix show was called Usopp, and Usopp and Sniper King are one and the same. When a manga/anime runs for more than 1,000 chapters over more than 20 years, odds are characters are going to evolve and even develop alter egos from time to time.
