If a game allows me to chop down trees, I spend far too much time chopping down trees. It appears the same can be said for players of Old School Runescape. Well, get excited you lonely lumberjack. On June 28th, Old School Runescape launched a new skill expansion dubbed Forestry. This expansion adds a little spice to the Woodcutting skill and turns this monotonous chore into a social gathering.
Old School Runescapes Forestry expansion allows you and your friends to gain additional XP when chopping down the same tree. You read that right. If you and a friend are both swinging your axes on the same tree, each of you will earn additional XP for working together. What’s more, this bonus isn’t limited to two people. Anyone laying metal to wood will earn additional experience so long as they are working on the same piece of timber.
Further additions have also been made with the new expansion such as despawning timers on trees. Once the first cut is made, the despawning timer will begin. However, the tree can respawn so long as it is not fully chopped down. This is great news for players as it all but removes the necessity to compete for these resources.
Moreover, the Forestry expansion will offer new events that spawn when trees are chopped down with the Forestry Kit. Those close by are able to join in on encounters with Remote Banking Leprechauns, Rising Roots, Struggling Saplings and Flowering Trees.
The live expansion will reward players with a myriad of valuables. These include new items and craftables such as the Lumberjack outfit and a log basket saving players multiple trips to and from the forest.
