The Obi-Wan Kenobi show marketing begins in what fans will appreciate as the most Kenobi way possible. The upcoming Disney+ series was first announced back in 2019, with Ewan McGregor confirmed to return to the role of the Jedi Master after having played him throughout George Lucas' prequel trilogy. Obi-Wan Kenobi will run for six episodes and premiere on May 25, 2022, the 45th anniversary of the original Star Wars film hitting theaters.
While Episode I, II, and III have a famously mixed reputation among Star Wars fans, one of the elements most praised at the time was the performance of McGregor as Obi-Wan, a part first played by renowned English actor Alec Guinness. Fans have long been eager to see him return in some capacity, and Lucasfilm first envisioned a Kenobi spinoff movie under the A Star Wars Story banner given to Rogue One and Solo. When the latter proved a financial disappointment, the project shifted to being a limited series, with The Mandalorian's Deborah Chow signed on to direct all six episodes.

Now, following the completion of Boba Fett, theObi-Wan Kenobi marketing can begin in earnest. An official Twitter account just activated, and while it's likely that trailers, clips, and posters for the Disney+ show will be shared there as the release date approaches, that's not how the promotional team chose to start their campaign.
