Nintendo has announced a new Nintendo Direct Partner showcase for later this week on Wednesday February 21.
After numerous rumors about Nintendo airing a new Direct broadcast, a Partner showcase focusing on games from third-party developers and publishers has been confirmed. It should come as now surprise, however, as Nintendo has been traditionally airing Directs annually in February. According to Nintendo's official post on X, the Direct will air on February 21 at 6am PT and will be roughly 25 minutes in length. As said, the broadcast will focus on titles coming to the Nintendo Switch from publishing and development partners in the first half of 2024.
With this week's showcase being a "partner" Direct, odds are high that the broadcast will include the announcement of the heavily-rumored Hi-Fi Rush coming to Nintendo's platform. In addition, there's speculation about Pentiment also being announced for the Switch. Last week, during Microsoft's Xbox business update with Phil Spencer, Sarah Bond and Matt Booty, it was confirmed that, initially, four former Xbox exclusives are coming to rival platforms. Although Spencer didn't name the four titles going multiplatform, chances are high that these games include Pentiment,
Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded. According to Spencer, however, these games coming to other platforms is a one-off experiment, although future titles coming to rival platforms isn't entirely ruled out.
"I don't think we should as an industry ever rule out a game going to any other platform", Spencer said. "We're focused on these four games and learning from the experience. I don't want to create a false expectation on those other platforms that this is somehow the first four to get over the dam and then the dam's going to open and everything else is coming. That's not the plan today."
