As players work their way through the storyline of The War Within, characters both new and old make appearances, new friends are made, and new enemies are discovered. Like with any new expansion, plenty of story flavor can be found in side quests, and The War Within is no different: from interesting lore to cute pet rewards, Side Quests are worth the time it takes to do them.
One particular side quest chain involves a worm farm, an unlikely alliance, and of course, a pet reward — and it's short and sweet!
The Rak-Ush storyline is one of the easier ones to miss in Azj-Kahet. Because this isn't part of the main campaign, many players likely skipped it, or were unable to finish it due to a bug that has since been fixed — but now everyone can gain the pet reward locked behind this short quest chain.
This storyline involves fixing up the local infrastructure to take care of the local stagshells.
To start this quest chain visit Kish'nal in Rak-Ush. You'll receive the quest Beautification Project, tasking you with removing overgrown plants from the stagshell pens. Following this storyline will take you through recruiting swarmhands and cleaning up for the arrival of a handful of little scarab swarmbeasts.
This will eventually lead you to Scarab Scouting, asking you to choose your starter scarab. While your choice here doesn't actually impact anything, the 6 choices do all look somewhat different. For example, Titannirum is a lighter color and has a horn, while Rafflesian shares the color scheme but has no horn and different «pincers».
Whichever scarab you choose seems to be the one that accompanies you for the Stagshell World Quests, but it is purely cosmetic, and you can change it at any time by heading back to the pen.
Helioceros
Titannirum
Rafflesian
Durania
Stapellia

After choosing your scarab, your next task is to hunt for truffles. Head over to the nearby soil piles and direct your new friend to sift through the Volatile Soil.
