To combat this, matchmaking website teams.gg has just rolled out support for Overwatch 2, letting players hand-pick their next team. With this tool, you can look for squadmates based on a wide range of preferences, telling other players who you're going to be maining ahead of time, so you aren't constantly asked to switch mid-game.

Going through the matchmaking tools now, the questions you're asked are incredibly thorough. Not only do you tell other players which characters you main, but you can also show what hours you're free for practice, and how many days a week you can dedicate to the grind. You can even opt out of communicating on voice chat if you find that too daunting.
There's also a chance that this tool could help more women get into competitive play, as there is an option to just search for other women to team up with. Speaking from experience, there is a lot of misogyny in ranked Overwatch, so knowing that you can go a game without your team hitting on you or calling you a slur is a very welcoming prospect.
In the meantime, however, there are other ways to combat toxicity in Overwatch 2. If someone is making bigoted remarks in chat, it's easy enough to report them after the match, and in some cases, get them either banned to temporarily suspended. Blizzard has also revealed that
