A new Steam Client beta update has gone live earlier today, bringing plenty of improvements to the Steam Desktop experience as well as new features, such as an overhauled in-game overlay with plenty of very interesting features.
Alongside some big changes that aren't immediately visible that allow for quicker implementation and iteration of new features, and some smaller ones that bring visual and usability improvements, the new Steam Client beta update brings some significant changes to the in-game overlay, such as the introduction of a new toolbar that gives players quick access to anything they may need while playing a game, such as friends chat, achievements progress and more. The Game Overview feature is also part of the overhauled in-game overlay, showing what's going on in the game since the player last played it. The Notes app is also a great new addition that allows players to take notes on the game that is currently being played.
The new additions to the new Steam Client overlay don't end here, as it is now possible to pin windows from the overlay so that they show during gameplay. With an adjustable opacity level, it will be possible to have windows for Notes, Guides, Discussions, and even the web browser always at hand.
The new Steam Client beta update also brings changes for notifications, a new screenshot manager, the ability to enable hardware acceleration on Mac and Linux for better performance and more responsive UI, and more. You can find all the details on the new update by heading over here.
