Nintendo has deployed Nintendo Switch update 18.1.0, ditching Twitter/X integration on Nintendo's hybrid platform.
Aside from the regular system stability improvements that Nintendo's firmware updates offer, this new system update ends the integration of X/Twitter by removing the "Post to Twitter" option when sharing from the Switch Album in the HOME Menu. In addition, the firmware update removes the option to post Super Smash Bros. Ultimate screenshots to Smash World in the Nintendo Switch Online smart device application. Also, Nintendo has removed the option to link X to a user profile within the platform's user settings.
Another change is that Nintendo has removed the option to link social media accounts from “My Page” > “Friend Suggestions”. Those interested can find the full release notes for the Nintendo Switch update 18.1.0 on Nintendo's official support page here.
As always, the new firmware update downloads automatically if this option has been enabled in the Switch's system settings. Players can also manually check for availability and download the update.
The Nintendo Switch is available worldwide now. The hybrid platform was released back in March of 2017. Nintendo is currently gearing up to announce a Switch successor - for now dubbed the Switch 2.
