A new report suggests that Marvel Studios is considering making a led by the original star-studded cast.
A report from Variety states that Marvel Studios has been considering bringing back the original stars of the Avengers franchise — like Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson — for a new Avengers movie. The outlet’s sources note that this would include reviving Iron Man and Black Widow, who both died in 2019’s Avengers” Endgame.
Though there have been talks, apparently Marvel Studios isn’t entirely committed to the concept at this time. The outlet also explains that for 2013’s Iron Man 3, Robert Downey Jr.’s upfront salary was approximately $25 million, so reuniting the original Avengers would likely be quite costly.
This isn’t the first recent shake-up at Marvel Studios, as the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again underwent an extensive creative overhaul last month as part of a larger change in the studio’s approach to television series.
The company plans to make concrete changes to the way it approaches its television series by hiring showrunners rather than relying on film executives to guide the projects. These showrunners will begin writing pilots (instead of having the studio greenlight entire series from the get-go) and show bibles for prospective television projects.
