It's been a while since we heard from the live-action Resident Evil series coming to Netflix. The last time was back in December when we were treated to a juicy picture of Cerberus, the unofficial Resident Evil mascot. Before that, we received a general plot for the show, and that's about it.
Now we're finally getting some details, starting with a release date. Netflix's Resident Evil will start streaming on July 14.

"When the Wesker kids move to New Raccoon City, the secrets they uncover might just be the end of everything," reads the show's description. The eight-episode program will explore the lives of the Wesker kids, Jade and Billie, who fight to survive the earliest days of the outbreak and then the larger zombie apocalypse as humanity descends into anarchy.
Albert Wesker will be played by the incomparable Lance Reddick. Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, Paola Nuñez, and most recently Ahad Raza Mir have also been confirmed for the show, although Netflix hasn't announced what roles they'll be playing. The show is produced by German studio Constantin Film, which most recently made Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City.
We're still a bit lost on just how Wesker wound up with kids as they're never discussed in the Capcom video games, but there are still several months left for Netflix to fill in the blanks there.
In the meantime, Capcom has promised Resident Evil fans that a next-gen upgrade will be coming for Resident Evil 2, 3, and 7 "later this year." The upgrade will include "visual enhancements" for all three games as well as the PC versions, although Capcom didn't say exactly what those enhancements might be. We're guessing 4K quality
