I’m sure with the number of games available nowadays, we all look for something unique either in terms of gameplay, graphics or narrative. One such game that has caught my eye is My Father Lied. It’s a mystery/Lovecraftian puzzle adventure but what sets it apart is its story.
The journey of how the game came to life is quite interesting. Ahmed Alameen, the developer, didn’t set out to be a game dev. Back in 2020, he was building his name as a writer and filmmaker. A college friend sparked the idea of collaborating on a game but the team later got dissolved and the project was never even started.
Ahmed, however, couldn’t shake the story he had in mind. So, he decided to go solo and taught himself 3D modelling and Unreal Engine, finally bringing his vision to life. Even the game’s title was a collaborative brainstorm with his wife.
Now that you know the background story of the game, let me tell you about the actual story in the game. You dive into a mystery wrapped in ancient Mesopotamian myths loaded with secrets, puzzles and surprises.
My Father Lied lets you step into the shoes of Huda. She’s a young woman who’s been left with a haunting question for twenty years—what happened to her father? And as the story unfolds, you’ll find that the answer is anything but simple.
Inspired by 7000 years of Mesopotamian culture, My Father Lied mixes ancient stories with modern narratives. The puzzles are simple point-and-click style with no complicated controls and beautiful 2D visuals and 360-degree images.

My Father Lied officially drops on May 30th, 2025, for PC. Android and iOS versions are coming in Q3 of 2025. You can check out more about the game on its official Kickstarter page. Or you can check out the Steam page, too.
As of now, the game isn’t yet up on the Play Store. I guess once the Steam launch is done, the devs will focus on getting the game ready for mobile. Until then, be sure to read our next news on the Apocalyptic Seas in
