The Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One trailer makes one Marvel Cinematic Universe mistake even worse in regards to Pom Klementieff's Mantis. After multiple delays to the movie's release, Paramount kicked off the marketing campaign for Tom Cruise's return as Ethan Hunt with a bang. The first Mission: Impossible 7 trailer showcased the epic stunts and growing ensemble that the movie includes. This included the first look at many new characters, ranging from Hayley Atwell to Pom Klementieff.
There are plenty of reasons for audiences to be excited for Mission: Impossible 7 after the teaser trailer, but the addition of Pom Klementieff stands out. The trailer has minimal dialogue and instead relies on visuals and action, and it is through the latter that Klementieff shines. Her mysterious character is featured in multiple action scenes, such as her attacking Ethan Hunt in an ally and taking out multiple henchmen on a train. It's through these glimpses of Pom Klementieff's Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One role that the footage highlights how the MCU has made a mistake in handling her role.

Pom Klementieff joined the MCU in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as Mantis and has made two additional appearances to this point. She's proven to be a useful member of the Guardians as they fought cosmic villains, but the MCU's Mantis isn't anywhere close to being an action role for Klementieff. Her empath powers usually mean she's less involved in actual fighting villains, as she's instead been used to subdue them.
