Initially releasing as a more adventure focused, dungeon crawling alternative to the hit game Minecraft, Minecraft Dungeons was less of a sandbox experience compared to the original title, though it does allow for more fleshed-out combat, similar to the Diablo series in terms of its top-down and party based nature. At first, Minecraft Dungeons offered a more compact Minecraft experience, however developer Mojang is now looking to expand the world and gameplay of Minecraft Dungeons.
Multiple DLCs and content updates have dropped for Minecraft Dungeons in the time since its release, including the 2021 Hidden Depths DLC which took players to the deepest parts of the ocean in the Minecraft world. Now, it seems Mojang has its sights set on quite the opposite biome, as Minecraft Dungeons takes players to the clouds above in the latest Cloudy Climb update. Cloudy Climb is seen by many as the start of a new era for Minecraft Dungeons.
Minecraft: Caves and Cliffs Part 2 Update is Out Now
With a roguelite game mode known as the Tower, players are required to fight their way through procedurally generated floors of enemies in order to climb as high as they can. Each run of the Tower starts players off with a blank slate, similar to the roguelite game mode being introduced to Hitman 3 or the game Hades. Alongside a new game mode though, Minecraft Dungeons is releasing its first adventure pass, which contains cosmetics such as skins, capes and pets as well as emotes for players to use.
The Cloudy Climbs Adventure Pass content is available for free for players who own Minecraft Dungeons, however there are options for players who want to spend real money in the game. The Cloudy Climbs update and Adventure Pass is the first seasonal update
