Microsoft has said it’s investigating issues preventing some Xbox Game Pass players from accessing the newly launched CrossfireX campaign.
CrossfireX was released exclusively for Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One today.
It includes a free-to-play multiplayer mode created by Crossfire’s core developer Smilegate, while Alan Wake and Control developer Remedy has created the game’s single-player offering.
The game’s campaign is split into two parts, Operation Catalyst and Operation Spectre. While the first part, Catalyst, is free for Xbox Game Pass members, Spectre is available as a paid add-on.
But some users attempting to access Operation Catalyst on its release day have been unable to do so.
“We’re aware that users may be unable to acquire the CrossfireX campaign content as part of the Xbox Game Pass subscription, and we’re working to resolve,” Xbox said. “Please keep an eye here or on our status page for updates.”
According to the official blurb accompanying the game’s launch trailer, which you can view above, CrossfireX features “a cinematic campaign that drops you in the middle of a global conflict between the world’s two most formidable private military factions”.
Microsoft recently claimed that Xbox Game Pass has 25 million subscribers and is helping its first-party titles achieve record levels of engagement.
According to the platform holder, Halo Infinite has enjoyed the best launch in the franchise’s history, attracting over 20 million players since its Xbox, PC and Game Pass release in December.
Forza Horizon 5 has also set Xbox records and registered 18 million players since its release for the same platforms in November.
