Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokemon Legends Z-A Reaffirmed for 2025 Launch
Nintendo has a big year ahead with the Switch 2, especially with all the rumored titles. The original Switch stilll has two notable exclusives for fans to look forward to – Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokemon Legends Z-A. During a Q&A with investors (translation via DeepL), Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa reaffirmed both titles for release this year.
He also reaffirmed that the company will “continue to launch attractive software as soon as we can develop it” for the Switch 1. However, “on the other hand,” Furukawa also asserted that “dedicated software is very important for the launch of new hardware.”
“With this in mind, we will consider various ways to make our games available to as many customers as possible through Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.” It seemingly implies that some titles could arrive for both platforms. Pokemon Legends Z-A was announced for Switch “systems”, so it’s pretty much a shoo-in for launching on Nintendo’s next console.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has only been confirmed for the Switch, but a Switch 2 version wouldn’t be surprising. Even if rumors of some Switch 1 titles receiving enhancements for the Switch 2 don’t pan out, Nintendo has already confirmed backwards compatibility (with some caveats).
