The Metal Gear Solid franchise, featuring quite a few odd quirks especially of their time, are filled with insane plot lines and some rather risqué content. To counter this, in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 release, Konami will be adding a content warning to the opening of every game, as spotted by Gamesradar.
While there are quite a few scenes in some of the later games in the collection that could potentially warrant such a content warning—such as quite a bit of Otacon’s backstory, as well as how the games typically tend to treat its female characters—the addition of the warnings to the 8-bit Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake might amuse some.
“This game contains expressions and themes which may be considered outdated,” reads the content warning. “However, these elements have been included without alteration to preserve the historical context in which the game was made and the creator’s original vision. Player discretion is advised.”
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 is slated to feature Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. It is also worth noting that the versions of 2 and 3 will be the Substance and Subsistence re-releases, which includes various bug fixes, as well as an improved camera for Metal Gear Solid 3.
The collection got confirmed to be getting a PS4 release earlier this week at a later date than its October release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch. For more details, here is some gameplay from the Master Collection‘s Nintendo Switch release.
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 is slated for release on October 24.
