Given the growing significance of The Game Awards and the ties FromSoftware has to the show, there's potential for the debut Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC trailer appear in the show next week. Although, should that happen, you probably shouldn't expect a release date to appear at the end of it. Speaking at the PlayStation Partner Awards, it's said the expansion is still «a little ways off».
When asked about the development of Shadow of the Erdtree, Yasuhiro Kitao said: «I will talk about DLC another time. It's still a little ways off, but progress is going well. Like Bloodborne, it has new battles and new characters. Please look forward to new things.»
The expansion itself was announced rather unceremoniously in a tweet at the start of this year with just a piece of key art attached. «Rise, Tarnished, and let us walk a new path together,» the post read. «An upcoming expansion for ELDEN RING Shadow of the Erdtree, is currently in development. We hope you look forward to new adventures in the Lands Between.» If a trailer does debut next week, it'll be the first time we've seen the DLC actually in motion. Given how long it took the base game to be re-revealed after its initial announcement, though, this is par for the course for FromSoftware.
