Marvel's Spider-Man introduces Taskmaster, a side boss in the game who mentions that he was hired by a mysterious employer to recruit the web-slinger. Many fans have been wondering who that specific employer could be, who possibly may be a character with a much larger role in the story of the upcoming Marvel's Spider-Man 2. The assassin is a recurring character throughout the game, with Taskmaster's challenges being a mission in Marvel's Spider-Man. There are many possible characters and/or groups who may have hired Taskmaster in Marvel's Spider-Man, with evidence from both in-game lore and the comics pointing toward a few identities in particular.
Taskmaster is a fairly important character and antihero in the Marvel Universe. His main ability allows him to calculate and mimic his enemies' moves and fighting styles, making him a dangerous opponent to many heroes in the Marvel Universe. The character's most recent iteration was seen in the MCU in 2021's Black Widow, though the character portrayed in the movie has a different identity to Marvel's Spider-Man's Tony Masters. A different version of Taskmaster also featured in Marvel's Avengers, and he's likely to have a role in Insomniac's Marvel's Spider-Man sequel too.
