Marvel Is "Painfully Aware" That Its Games Are Flopping, Says Insider
Marvel's Avengers was delisted yesterday, just three years after its release. While an end to the live service's events and roadmap was hardly surprising, the decision to remove it from storefronts entirely is quite dramatic and signals a huge failure in strategy. How does one of the biggest media properties on the planet drop the ball like this?
Well, according to well-known comic book scooper CanWeGetSomeToast, Marvel is very much aware that its games aren't reaching their "potential", and has plans to address this. According to the leaker, the upcoming Black Panther and Iron Man games are part of Marvel's new strategy, hoping to turn its gaming fortunes around after commercial flops like Marvel's Avengers, Midnight Suns, and Guardians of the Galaxy.

"Marvel is PAINFULLY aware of how their video games division hasn’t been reaching its potential overall," says CanWeGetSomeToast, in response to a fan highlighting the recent failures in Marvel's gaming lineup.
"There have been whispers of an internal shift for Marvel to focus on games. The new EA Black Panther and Iron Man games will be the start of a push for something BIG."
Focussing on sole superheroes like this could be a winning move, as Marvel's big success - the Insomniac Spider-Man series - also takes this approach. Insomniac also has a Wolverine game in development, so Marvel certainly seems to be going all in on this new direction.
