Mark Hamill reacts to a touching video of a Luke Skywalker cosplayer using sign language to interact with a Star Wars fan. First introduced in Star Wars: A New Hope, Hamill's Luke Skywalker has been a staple of the Star Wars universe for decades. After the conclusion of the original trilogy, Skywalker returned once more in the divisive Star Wars: The Last Jedi in 2017 and has also been brought back digitally in both The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.
Hamill himself also regularly partakes in the Star Wars discourse online, interacting with fans and sharing behind-the-scenes information from his time shooting the movies. Even though most of Luke's appearances these days are digital and don't actually involve performances from Hamill, the character remains beloved among Star Wars fans new and old. A recent episode of The Book of Boba Fett, in fact, instantly became a fan favorite because of its scenes involving both Luke and Yoda (even if there were complaints levied at the strange digital recreation of Hamill's voice).

After a video trended recently showing what appeared to be Luke Skywalker communicating in sign language with a fan, Hamill has taken to Twitter to set the record straight. A fan tagged Hamill in a post with the video, praising the actor for the heartfelt interaction. Hamill responded, revealing that it is, in fact, not him, but a "lukealike." Check out Hamill's tweet below:
To be truly wholesome and really make someone’s day- I should be honest and admit that’s not me- it’s a lukealike. <a href=«https://twitter.com/hashtag/GenuineHamster?src=hash&ref_src=» https: screenrant.com>#GenuineHamster
