Joel Edgerton, who plays Uncle Owen in Obi-Wan Kenobi, reacts to the Disney+ series’ first trailer with a line from Star Wars: A New Hope. Before becoming a prolific Hollywood actor, Edgerton played a young Owen Lars in George Lucas’ Star Wars prequel trilogy. In Attack of the Clones, Owen is introduced as the son of Cliegg, the moisture farmer who married Anakin Skywalker’s (Hayden Christensen) mother before she was kidnapped by Tusken Raiders. Following Anakin’s fall to the dark side in Revenge of the Sith, Obi-Wan (Ewan McGregor) goes to Tatooine and tasks Owen and his wife, Beru, with raising Luke Skywalker.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is set a decade after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, following “Ben” during his exile on the desert planet of Tatooine. While watching over Luke from afar, Obi-Wan will be forced to confront the dangers of the Galactic Republic, who are almost certainly looking for him. In addition to the return of McGregor, Christensen, and Edgerton as their respective characters, the limited series stars Bonnie Piesse as Beru, Moses Ingram, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, Benny Safdie, Maya Erskine, and Rory Ross. This week, Obi-Wan Kenobi's first trailer dropped during the latest Disney Investor Call.
