A fan artist has created an interpretation of what The Mandalorian season 3 might look like if Grogu had stayed with Luke Skywalker. Grogu, who is popularly known as Baby Yoda, was introduced at the very end of the first episode of Disney+'s Star Wars spinoff series. He was meant to be just a job for bounty hunter Din Djarin, who eventually bonded with and rescued him over the course of the first season, before setting off on a quest to reunite him with his people, whereupon he was taken by Luke Skywalker to be trained as a Jedi in the Mandalorianseason 2 finale.
One of the biggest surprises of Disney+'s newest series The Book of Boba Fett, which follows the iconic Empire Strikes Back bounty hunter, was the return of the Mandalorian. He is depicted visiting the planet where Grogu is being trained to bring him a gift of armor, though he is prevented from reuniting with his ward in person. Luke Skywalker presents Grogu with the choice to embrace his interpersonal connections and go with Djarin, or relinquish all bonds with the past and continue his training as a Jedi. Grogu chooses to remain with the Mandalorian and they reunite in the final episode during the climactic battle for the fate of Jabba's territory.

The Photoshop artist and photographer Jordan, who goes by the handle tilian_creative on Instagram, created a piece that imagines a scenario where Grogu made the opposite choice. The art piece presents a familiar Star Wars image: a smoke-covered battleground filled with looming ship wreckage and red-orange explosions. Emerging from the thick shroud are two figures: Luke, wearing his signature Jedi cloak, and Grogu, bearing Jedi master Yoda's old lightsaber.
