Legendary Star Wars actor Mark Hamill has some force-ful tips for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor star Cameron Monaghan in a new ad for Respawn's latest action-adventure set in a galaxy far, far, away.
The ad shows Monaghan in full motion-capture get-up and wielding a prop lightsaber, all while Hamill coaches him through various scenarios. Along the way, Hamill gets a little jealous of the fact that Monaghan's character Cal Kestis gets to use two lightsabers, mumbling «they never gave me two lightsabers» as he walks off the motion-capture stage.
As is fitting for the actor who brought Luke Skywalker to life, he seems to get along well with Kestis' droid companion BD-1. After a session where a blindfolded Monaghan complains about being unable to deflect popcorn thrown by Hamill, the Jedi master translates BD-1's beeps and boops, telling Monaghan «BD-1 says no excuses.» Hamill also isn't a fan of Monaghan's backseat gaming. «I really don't need you to explain the force to me,» Hamill says to the 29-year-old actor.
It's a fun ad that casts an aged and slightly grumpy Hamill in a similar light to that of his appearance as Luke in the The Last Jedi, where the disillusioned Jedi Master reluctantly trains newcomer Rey before eventually realizing he can't simply hide from what's happening the galaxy at large. Even though Monaghan is the star of Jedi: Survivor, we can't help but wonder what Hamill would think about Jedi: Survivor's other fan-favorite character: Turgle.
Star Wars: Jedi Survivor arrives on April 28. In GameSpot's Star Wars Jedi: Survivor review, reviewer Jordan Ramée writes that Respawn's sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order is an improvement in both gameplay and story to that of its predecessor, delivering a «gripping story of a
