Three DLC packs are coming to Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope, with the third to include Rayman as a playable character.
He may not have made it into Super Smash Bros., but Rayman will get to cross paths with Mario and friends in Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope, as part of the game’s DLC plans.
Announced during the recent Ubisoft Forward event, creative director Davide Soliani explained that three DLC expansions are planned, with Rayman joining as a playable character in the third one.
No release dates were given for any of the expansions and Soliani even admits that they’re being announced a bit early. So, you probably shouldn’t expect any of them to release until 2023, maybe even 2024.
Although there’ve been a few mobile platformers, the last Rayman game for consoles was Rayman Legends in 2013. Not counting its Nintendo Switch and Stadia re-releases in 2017 and 2021, respectively.
It’s also been 14 years since Rayman and the Rabbids appeared in a game together. Initially, the Rabbids served as antagonists for Rayman in a series of mini-game compilations.
The Rabbids series grew popular enough to stand on its own, without Rayman, leaving Ubisoft’s limbless mascot to fall into obscurity.
Ubisoft Forward provided an extended look at gameplay from the base game, namely a boss battle against a corrupted Wiggler.
While the Rayman DLC is likely ages away, Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope releases in just a month’s time, on October 20.
As for the rest of Ubisoft Forward, there was new footage for pirate game Skull And Bones. Most of it reiterated what fans already knew, although Ubisoft added that cross-play will be available at launch, which is November 8.
