Mama June Admits She Was Initially Scared To Get Married
Mama June Shannon, who rose to fame on Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, is happily off the market, but tying the knot with husband Justin Stroud wasn't the easiest thing for the reality TV star. The past several years have been a rollercoaster as June and ex-boyfriend Geno Doak battled drug addiction, criminal charges and estrangement from her beloved daughters. Though she put in the work to get her life back and is over two years sober, she's still making headlines thanks to her shocking marriage announcement, one that June didn't think she'd be making anytime soon.
When the world first met June on TLC's Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, she was in a relationship with Mike «Sugar Bear» Thompson, father of Alana «Honey Boo Boo» Thompson. The two enjoyed a commitment ceremony, but were not legally married. About a year after their 2014 split, June began dating Geno, who many thought would be the one. Not only did he seem to make June happy, he also spent time with Alana, even decorating her new bedroom. But on WEtv's Mama June: Road to Redemption, June revealed that Geno relapsed, causing the relationship to become abusive and toxic. June then found happiness again with Justin, an auto mechanic who she secretly wed on March 23, the date of their six-month anniversary.
