Madcap Moss was written off the television during the most recent episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown, and the word is that the company could strip him of one of his defining characteristics once he returns. It seemed that Moss's feud with Happy Corbin ended at WrestleMania Backlash, with the former beating the latter and going over as the face with a surprise rollup. This booking made sense, and the former Riddick Moss seemed bound for bigger and better things on the blue brand.
That turned out not to be the case, however. Moss was attacked by his former friend while he was giving an interview to Kayla Braxton in the middle of the ring during SmackDown, resulting in him being stretchered out of the arena. It was a well-done bombardment, and it eventually saw Corbin place Moss' neck in a steel chair before crushing it with the massive Andre The Giant Battle Royal trophy. WWE said that Moss had suffered a cervical contusion, giving no timeline for his return.

This will likely result in Moss spending some time away from television, and recent reports indicate that it may even result in a character change. Paul Davis of WrestlingNews.co wrote that the site «has learned that there have been pitches to have Moss drop the comedy aspects from his character, and there’s been talk of him getting new gear and new music.»
