Shayne Jansen and Shaina Hurley developed a close bond in the pods of Love Is Blind season 2 that prompted her to second-guess her chemistry with Kyle Abrams, but it is clear that Shayne and Shaina's connection was very superficial and not like the type of relationship that they were looking for on the show. Unlike other dating shows like Too Hot To Handle and Love Island, contestants go into Love Is Blind with the sole purpose of finding a spouse without taking into consideration any initial physical attraction.
In other words, the Love Is Blind experiment is not about bonding over how attractive someone is or what kinds of clothing they're wearing. This series is also not about seeking out vapid relationships such as potential one-night stands. Instead, Love Is Blind is a dating show where people should connect solely based on the trust and feelings they establish through interacting while they are separated by a wall. When breaking down all of the conversations that Shayne and Shaina had on Love Is Blind, there just wasn't much depth there to begin with.

In the pods, Shaina and Shayne first connected over feeling like giving out compliments to people is important so that they can feel reassured. Shaina also asked Shayne if he was «playful,» and when he said yes, she felt like that was very important. In a confessional, Shaina described Shayne as a «big teddy bear» and remarked on how cute their names would go together since they are very similar. In a later interaction, Shaina and Shayne tried to have a «deeper» conversation between them that quickly turned into Shayne
