Starting Dec. 13, The Epic Games Store is giving away a free game every day, for the next 17 days. However, each free game will only be available for 24 hours before it returns to its original MSRP, which means you’ll need to log into Epic’s free games page every day through Dec. 31 to find out which game you can make a permanent part of your backlog. While Epic is keeping its full 17-day list of free titles a closely guarded secret, it’s kicking off the event by giving away the freshly minted Destiny 2: Legacy Collection for free.
Bungie’s live-service shooter has been struggling lately, the least of which is providing new players with a consistent jump-off point. The Legacy Collection aims to alleviate some of that by bundling a trio of Destiny 2’s big expansions (Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, and The Witch Queen) into a single $59.99 purchase. While this isn’t a comprehensive collection of all the available content, consolidating these expansions is certainly a step in the right direction.
For reference, Epic ran a similar promotion last year from Dec. 15 to Dec. 29, and some of the games featured included Them’s Fightin’ Herds, Wolfenstein: The New Order, Death Stranding, Metro: Last Light Redux, and Dishonored: Definitive Edition just to name a few.
This 17-day giveaway coincides with the Epic Store holiday sale, which is offering a 33% discount on purchases of $14.99 or more in addition to a number of other benefits through Jan. 10 if you’re looking to purchase newer titles like Alan Wake 2, Mortal Kombat 1, or Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
