Twitter may be in shambles(Opens in a new window) over its verification process, but LinkedIn is expanding its identification features by adding access to the CLEAR platform, among other options.
LinkedIn first rolled out identity verification in October, but it's expanding to now include CLEAR and Microsoft Entra, plus company verification via email, for free.
For CLEAR, members will need to provide a US government-issued ID and US phone number. Once approved, LinkedIn will let you say on you profile that you're verified via CLEAR. (This is separate from the airport-related CLEAR program.) Here's how to sign up(Opens in a new window); you'll need to do so via the iOS or Android app, not the web browser.
In late April, meanwhile, LinkedIn will add identity verification via Microsoft Entra Verified ID, which will let organizations "create customized digital employee IDs that reflect their brand and business needs," Redmond says(Opens in a new window). It'll be open to "dozens of participating companies."
Meanwhile, if you want to independently verify where you work(Opens in a new window)—which may be a good idea given the proliferation of job scams these days—LinkedIn will let you do so via a code sent to your company email address. It's currently available for over 4,000 companies and will expand to more "over time," LinkedIn says.
