star Lindsay Lohan opened up about what it was like returning to the set of the iconic Disney fantasy comedy. This comes after production on the sequel officially started earlier this week.
During a recent interview, Lohan expressed how fun it was to reunite with Jamie Lee Curtis on the set of Freaky Friday 2. She also confirmed some details about her return as Anna Coleman, who, in the first installment, was initially introduced as Curtis’ rebellious teen daughter who aspires to become a musician. Lohan revealed the she has actually been taking guitar lessons for the role, seemingly teasing that her rock band, Pink Slip may also make a return in the upcoming sequel.

“It’s much freakier than you would expect,” Lohan said (via Good Morning America). “There’s been a lot of love, a lot of fun, and a lot of laughs on set. It’s been a great experience. I can’t say much [about the plot] but I am taking guitar lessons and I do have a daughter in the movie.”
Freaky Friday 2 is being directed by Nisha Ganatra (Late Night) from a screenplay written by Jordan Weiss. Joining Lohan and Curtis are returning cast members Mark Harmon as Ryan, Chad Michael Murray as Jake, Christina Vidal Mitchell as Maddie, Haley Hudson as Peg, Rosalind Chao as Pei-Pei, Lucille Song as Pei-Pei’s mom, and Stephen Tobolowsky as Mr. Bates. The sequel will also include new cast members Manny Jacinto (The Good Place), Sophia Hammons (Up Here), Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (Never Have I Ever), and Julia Butters (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, The Fabelmans). It is produced by Andrew Gunn and Kristin Burr.
At the moment, the film is currently slated for 2025 release, over two decades since the remake’s theatrical release.
