Microsoft has shown off a first look at Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth's new island activity in a new trailer unveiled during the Xbox Partner Preview broadcast.
Developer RGG Studio Chief Producer Hiroyuki Sakamoto has added a build-your-own resort mode, which lets players play a number of activities while managing Dondoko Island. This is unlocked through a side-story that will be available at the start of Chapter 6.
In a post on Xbox Wire, RGG Studio Chief Producer Hiroyuki Sakamoto confirmed Dondoko Island is independent from the main story so you will be able to play through at your own pace. Expect loads of mini-games, once of which is called Crazy Delivery, Sujimon Battle. Here, you collect enemies and battle them via a dating app where you chat to find a match.
We previously got a chance to go hands-on with Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, which revealed an "idyllic new setting begging to be explored". The upcoming sequel will follow returning protagonist Ichiban Kasuga as he journeys to Hawaii for more mini-games, karaoke, and scraps with local gangsters. Sega has confirmed that the new environment will be three times larger than the Yokohama map featured in 2020's Yakuza: Like a Dragon.
In the meantime, Sega is preparing to release Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, a prequel that will start series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu. You can read our full preview here, with a release date for November 9 on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth will be out just a couple months later — January 26, 2024.
