The first Pokemon TCG release of each year is usually a special one, designed as much for collectors as it is players. This year, it is Crown Zenith to say goodbye to the Galar Region. Next year, though, we’re celebrating Paldea with over 100 new shiny Pokemon in Paldean Fates.
Like Hidden Fates and Shining Fates before it, Paldean Fates’ focus is on shiny Pokemon, and is sure to be a hit with collectors. Of course, there’s also a new Charizard, with Shiny Tera Charizard almost certainly being the big chase pull of the expansion.
Launching January 26, 2024, Paldean Fates will include over 240 cards, with over 100 of those being shiny Pokemon. It’s likely it’ll follow the same structure as the other Fates expansions, with the majority being regular, basic Pokemon, but with the differing colour schemes that make shiny Pokemon so collectible.
Any set with a Charizard in has a habit of being incredibly popular, with the not-Dragon-type dragon being their most valuable card. Expect for the same to happen with Paldean Fates, with the promise of it being a Tera-type ex only making it even more of a desirable card.
However, there’s also the promise of new ex Pokemon, which have been the hallmark of the Scarlet & Violet era. So far, The Pokemon Company has confirmed we’ll be getting Iron Treads and Great Tusk Future and Ancient ex cards, continuing the time travel theme introduced in the era and made its way to the TCG in Paradox Rift.
We’ll also be getting ‘Shiny Tera ex’ Pokemon for the first time, as mentioned with Charizard. Aside from being a mouthful to say, these will include Pokemon like Forretress and Espathra. Others include Tinkaton, Ceruledge, Dondozo, Pikachu, Greavard, Maschiff, Fidough, Meowscara, Quaquaval,
