A new Lightyear trailer arrives revealing that the time travel plot of Pixar's new movie is all Buzz's fault after a mission goes awry. Set in the Toy Story universe, the film explores the fictional origin story of the titular space hero that would go on to inspire Tim Allen's fan-favorite character. Lightyear finds Buzz stuck on an alien planet and accidentally traveling 62 years into the future in which the villainous Emperor Zurg is on a violent quest to conquer the galaxy.
Chris Evans is leading the cast of Lightyear as Buzz alongside Keke Palmer, Peter Sohn, James Brolin as Zurg, Taika Waititi, Dale Soules, Uzo Aduba, Mary McDonald-Lewis, Efren Ramirez and Isiah Whitlock Jr. Development on the film was first announced at Disney's 2020 Investor Day Meeting, though has been in the works for over six years after Angus MacLane, who is making his feature debut with the Toy Story prequel, finished work on Finding Dory. The wait for Lightyear's arrival is nearly over and now the studio is offering a new look at the film.
