Despite the game's success, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has reportedly failed to reach the review scores that motivated crunch from developer Traveler's Tales. The latest title in the brick-based franchise adapts all nine major films in the sci-fi franchise and lets players explore a vast galaxy of planets. While LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga reviews were almost unanimously positive, developer Traveler's Tales might still be displeased with fan response.
The first LEGO Star Wars game released way back in 2005, and since then Traveler's Tales has gone on to tackle other plastic projects like LEGO Batman, LEGO Harry Potter and LEGO Lord of the Rings. However, by all accounts LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is the largest and most ambitious title in the series yet. The adventure game recreates the galaxy far, far away on an epic scale, letting players fly between iconic planets like Tatooine, Naboo and Starkiller Base while playing as iconic characters like Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Kylo Ren. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga's playable characters total more than 300, with major icons and minor figures pulled from throughout the epic nine-film series.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga's Metacritic score currently sits at a respectable 81, but this is unlikely to satisfy Traveler's Tales. According to an interview with Polygon from back in January, the developer was hoping for at least an 85 on Metacritic to justify the large amount of crunch during development.
