In LEGO Star Wars: Skywalker Saga, players can unlock Darth Maul as one of the 380 playable characters in the massive character roster. With distinct red and black skin, small horns on his head, and wielding a duel-ended Lightsaber, Darth Maul is immediately recognizable as one of the most iconic villains in the franchise. Although still undoubtedly a villain, Darth Maul's antics are more humorous than threatening to keep with the funny tone in LEGO: Star Wars.
While playing through the levels in Episode I: The Phantom Menace, players will encounter Darth Maul. During the third level, Better Call Maul, players will battle Darth Maul as they play as Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi. For this fight, players will need to reduce Darth Maul's health bar three times until he finally goes down. After that, players can either strike Darth Maul directly with their Lightsabers or use their Force power to throw objects back at him. To avoid taking too much damage, players should watch for red indicators to appear on the ground where his next attack will land. Additionally, Darth Maul has a close-range stomping attack. After clearing the first phase of the fight, players will need to defeat minor enemy droids before beginning phase two with the boss in LEGO: Star Wars.

Phase two of the fight with Darth Maul will not introduce any new mechanics, but it will take place on a higher platform, and the player will need to ride the elevator to reach the boss. Once his health bar is depleted, Darth Maul will destroy the bridge, requiring players to perform a series of platforming jumps to reach him again. Once defeated, Darth Maul will again attempt to flee after summoning
