Law and Order season 22 casts former Mortal Kombat star Mehcad Brooks. The Law and Orderfranchise was created by Dick Wolf back in 1990. While the original Law and Order series was canceled in 2010 after 20 seasons, it was revived for season 21 back in 2021, bringing back beloved original series stars such as Anthony Anderson and Sam Waterston. The revival's success was followed quickly by a Law and Order season 22 pick-up.
Now, season 22 has another cast member, as Variety reports that Brooks has joined the Law and Ordercast. The actor will play a new detective in the Law & Orderrevival. Other than that, little is known about his role at this time. Brooks joins a cast of actors that includes seasoned Law & Order star Waterston in addition to Jeffrey Donovan, Camryn Manheim, Hugh Dancy, and Odelya Halevi. Wolf will return to executive produce on the next season of the revival. Arthur Forney, Rick Eid, and Peter Jankowski will also executive produce.

Brooks is new to the Law and Order universe but has acted in other prominent TV shows such as True Blood, Supergirl, and Desperate Housewives. Most recently, Brooks starred in the film adaptation of Mortal Kombat in 2021, where he played Jax. While some of the long-standingLaw and Order franchise characters will return, Brooks’ casting brings an exciting new talent to the long-running series. In keeping with the same theme, two Law and Order spinoff series, SVU and Organized Crime, also have new showrunners for their upcoming seasons. Law & Orderseason 22 may still have Wolf back in the producing seat, but Brooks’ casting is just one of the way the saga's revival is keeping itself fresh.
