According to Microsoft's Xbox support team, the latest Xbox firmware update should address some Baldur's Gate 3 Xbox crashes.
Larian's hit title was finally released on Xbox earlier this month. Unfortunately, however, some players have reported crashing issues that cause save files to disappear or become unusable. The development team released a minor patch recently but also referred to an Xbox firmware update to address issues.
On X (formerly Twitter), the official Xbox support account has now said that, while Microsoft is still actively looking into the apparent issues with the game, the latest Xbox console update includes a fix "for some players". "While we still don’t recommend powering off your console by unplugging it, the latest console update includes a fix for some players, we are continuing to investigate all save issues reported", the most recent post from Xbox on X reads.
Earlier this month, the Xbox support team wrote to be aware of the saving issues with Baldur's Gate 3 and warned players not to disconnect their Xbox console from power. "Xbox is aware of a problem that can cause players to lose saved progress in Baldur’s Gate 3", the support team wrote. "In order to avoid this issue players should save their game and then return to the Xbox dashboard and select “Quit Game” or “Save to Quick Resume” from the game menu (Home, Game, Select, and then choose "Save to Quick Resume" or "Quit") when they finish playing. Users should not disconnect their console from the power. Users should select “shut down” from the console menu and leave their Xbox connected to power. We are working to fix this ASAP."
