When the project was first announced earlier this year at the Las Vegas CinemaCon, Black revealed the first details about the plot forKung Fu Panda 4. According to the School of Rock star, the upcoming movie will see Po preparing himself to become the new spiritual leader of the Valley of Peace. The Dragon warrior will also be training a new character named Zhen, a fox who is poised to become his successor. As for Kung Fu Panda 4’s villain, Black confirmed that it will be a Chameleon who has the ability to bring back past enemies, which potentially teases the return of fan-favorites Tai Lung and Shen.
The Kung Fu Panda franchise began in 2008, with the first film getting nominated for an Oscar Award for Best Animated Feature. It featured the voices of Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, Lucy Liu, Dustin Hoffman, James Hong, and Seth Rogen. Due to its success, it was followed by two more sequels in 2011 and 2016. The trilogy currently has a combined gross of over $1.8 billion at the worldwide box office.
