Kimiko losing her powers might be a problem for the Boys, but it solves a string of problems for The Boys season 3. When Billy Butcher led his merry band of supe skeptics into a top-secret Russian research facility, he entered with one full-time supe on his books and came out with zero. Released from his metal casket, Soldier Boy attacked the Boys with a strange energy power he definitely didn't possess back in 1984. Likely the result of scientific fiddling, this radioactive blast doesn't just knock its target through a concrete wall, it nullifies Kimiko's Compound-V gifts completely.
As of The Boys season 3, episode 5 («The Last Time To Look On This World Of Lies»), Kimiko's superhuman powers still haven't returned, and an emotional hospital scene between Karen Fukuhara's character and Tomer Capone's Frenchie all but confirms her power drain is a permanent arrangement. Transforming the Female into a regular female represents a bold decision from The Boys' creative nucleus. Like Spidey's sticky digits or Superman's flight, Kimiko's affinity for tearing faces off feels like a keystone of her character and something The Boys can't exist without. In truth, powering down Kimiko solves two distinct problems The Boys has encountered across its three seasons.
