Ethan Hawke’s daughter Maya reveals how she convinced her father to accept his role in Moon Knight. Maya Hawke, whose mother is actress Uma Thurman, has relatively recently started her career as an actress. In 2017, she played Jo in the BBC adaptation of Little Women, and she went on to play Robin Buckley in Stranger Things season 3. She reprised the role of Robin in this year's Stranger Things season 4.
2022 has been a big year for Maya’s father, Ethan Hawke. Ethan’s career has taken a villainous turn this year, playing antagonist Arthur Harrow in the Disney+ series Moon Knight andThe Grabber in Scott Derrickson’s horror filmThe Black Phone. Ethan also played King Aurvandil War-Raven in Robert Eggers’ The Northman. Ethan’s role in Moon Knight marked the actor’s debut in the MCU. Throughout his career, Ethan's typically stayed away from superhero fare, and now he's opened up about why he took the part.

Ethan Hawke now states that it was Maya who eventually convinced him to take on his MCU role. In a recent interview with IndieWire, Ethan Hawke revealed that he was initially reluctant to make the dive into the MCU for his Moon Knight role. Maya, however, made an appeal to her father Ethan, saying he should join the MCU and “show them what [he had] to offer.” When Ethan finally agreed, he told fellow Moon Knight actor Oscar Isaac that he too should work to show the MCU the talent Isaac had in store, as the two could experiment with the Marvel world together.
