Following a bombshell interview wherein Joss Whedon criticized the cast and crew of Justice League, DC fans are standing by Ray Fisher. In the DC world, Fisher is best known for playing Victor Stone, aka Cyborg, in Justice League and Zack Snyder's director's cut. He's also known for being the whistleblower behind the Justice League reshoots, which saw Whedon take over from Snyder after the latter departed due to a family tragedy. Starting in 2020, Fisher publicly accused Whedon and several of DC's most prominent executives of abusive and racist behavior, and of covering up what happened on set. Save for a comment released by his spokesperson, Whedon hadn't said much on the topic of these accusations until this week, when a new interview from NY Magazine put the spotlight back on the controversial creator. The lengthy piece discussed much of Whedon's life, from his childhood to his work on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. On the topic of Justice League, Whedon gave a very different perspective of the reshoots, mentioning a rude cast and crew and stating he never did things such as threatening Gadot's career. With Fisher in particular, Whedon suggested the removal of Cyborg's storyline in his cut of Justice League had to do with plot purposes and poor acting on Fisher's part rather than racism, as Fisher insinuated.
