Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R is the latest game to be based on Hirohiko Araki's long-running manga series. This game was originally released on the PS3, where it featured a large cast of characters to play as. Over 50 characters will be available in All Star Battle R's roster, with many of them representing the various «Parts» of the series, from Phantom Blood to Jojolion.
This remake was first revealed at PlayStation's March 2022 State of Play event, where it showcased the number of changes since the release of the original All Star Battle. This includes updating all of the character's outfits and voice cast to their current anime equivalents, such as Old Joseph Joestar now being voiced by the late Unsho Ishizuka instead of Tomokazu Sugita. Chief among these changes are some new characters coming to the game, with it and the release date being revealed in a new trailer.

The first of these is the lovable side character Speedwagon from Phantom Blood, who can fight utilizing his razor sharp top hat. Two antagonistic stand users from Stardust Crusaders will be available as well, those being Mariah and Pet Shop. Diego Brando from Steel Ball Run will also be playable, where he can use his stand, Scary Monsters, to transform into a terrifying dinosaur and change his moveset.
Alongside these character reveals was the game's release date, which will be September 2. It should be noted these four characters have been playable in the last console-based JJBA game by CyberConnect2, Eyes of Heaven. There are still six more characters that are coming to All Star Battle R that have yet to be revealed, but this lineup is looking impressive already. An early-access
